DNS monitoring: is your name still resolving?
When DNS breaks, everything built on the name breaks with it. FrogStatus resolves your domain at a regular interval and alerts you when it returns no address or takes too long.
14 days, no commitment. Cancel any time.
How it works
- 1
Add the domain
Enter the host name you want to check, for example www.example.com.
- 2
Set the interval
Pick how often to resolve it, within the minimum of your plan.
- 3
Choose the alert
Select the channels that should hear about a failure.
What you get
Spots a broken resolution
The check fails when the name returns no address, which is what users experience as “site not found”.
Resolution time
The time DNS takes to answer is recorded on every check.
Separates DNS from the server
If the site is down and DNS is fine, the problem is elsewhere. If DNS is down, there is nothing to fix on the server.
Same alerts as the rest
Same channels, reminders and recovery notices as the other monitors.
Where it helps
After a DNS change
Confirm that the new records resolve after you move a domain or change provider.
Provider outages
Know quickly when your DNS provider has a problem.
Expired or misconfigured zones
Catch a domain that stops resolving because of a lapsed registration or a bad zone.

Questions
Which plans include it?
Plus and above. Solo covers website (HTTP and HTTPS) and ping monitoring.
Does it compare the answer with an expected value?
Not today. It checks that the name resolves to at least one address. To see the exact records, use the free DNS lookup tool.
Which records does it look up?
The addresses of the name (A and AAAA).
Is it the same as the DNS lookup tool?
No. The lookup tool is a one-off query you run by hand; DNS monitoring repeats the check on its own and alerts you.
