Multi-region monitoring: alert on real outages only

A problem seen from one place may be a network glitch on the way, not your service. FrogStatus can check from several regions and alerts when the majority of them agree that something is wrong.

14 days, no commitment. Cancel any time.

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose the regions

In the monitor’s settings, pick the regions it should be checked from.

  2. 2

    Each region reports

Every region runs the check and sends its result.

  3. 3

    The majority decides

A monitor is down when most of the regions that reported say so. A region that sends nothing is treated as no data, not as a failure.

What you get

Fewer false alarms

One probe with a bad route cannot page your team on its own.

A view from where users are

Checking from several places shows problems that only affect some of them.

Robust to a probe being down

A region that is itself offline does not turn into a false outage.

One verdict

You get one status per monitor, not one alert per region.

Where it helps

  • Customers in several countries

Check from the regions where your users are.

  • Critical services

Avoid being woken at night by a single probe’s network problem.

  • CDN and routing issues

Notice the outage that only some regions see.

Questions

How is “down” decided?

By the majority of the regions that reported. With two regions, both must agree; with three, two are enough.

What if a region does not report?

It counts as no data. It is never treated as a failure.

Do I need several monitors?

No. One monitor can be checked from several regions.
